Culture Handbook
We build excellent things with excellent people, and we do it in a way that respects everyone’s time, attention, and life outside of work.
01
Async by Default
Do not interrupt someone if the answer can wait. Write it down, share it, move on. We default to asynchronous communication to respect focus time and enable deep work across time zones.
02
Writing First
Before scheduling a meeting, ask: can this be resolved in writing? If the answer is yes or maybe, write it first. We schedule meetings only when real-time discussion is needed to resolve ambiguity, the topic is sensitive, or the group needs to align on a complex decision collaboratively.
03
Disagree and Commit
Once a decision is made, everyone supports it fully — even if they argued against it during discussion. There is no room for passive resistance or second-guessing after the decision is made. Disagreement is welcome during debate; commitment is expected after.
04
Relentless Quality over Burnout
We do not ship features we are not proud of, and we do not celebrate working late. Quality is non-negotiable, but so is sustainability. We measure output, not hours. Burnout is not a badge of honor — it is a signal that something is broken.
05
Minimalist Process
Process is a tool, not a goal. We add process only when the cost of not having it exceeds the cost of implementing it. If something takes more time in process than it saves, we remove it. If a decision requires three approvals, we ask why one is not enough.
This is a living document. As Syntave grows, our culture will evolve. If something here does not match reality, speak up. If something can be improved, propose the change. Culture is not what we write — it is what we do, every day.
